Local people are concerned about the plans to convert Coombe House on Oreston Quay into separate dwellings, leading to more parking problems and a building that will be out of character with the area.
Planners are recommending refusal, but Tory Councillor Michael Leaves has referred it to the full Planning Committee. This is the only way permission could be granted!
Labour candidate Vince Barry said “Like others in Oreston, I am opposed to this. There will be design and parking problems and it will definitely be over-development. If I were our Councillor, I would be standing up for local people, rather than trying to push through such an unpopular proposal. Again, Tory Michael Leaves is letting down the people who elected him.”
About our candidate in Radford
My name is Vince Barry and I am honoured to be our Labour candidate here in Plymstock Radford. Plymstock is an area close to my heart as my family has lived here for generations. We all know it is an area which can be even better.
Knowing Plymstock well, I really enjoy the strong community spirit which has long been at the heart of our neighbourhood. I want to use my campaigning experience to help community groups grow and prosper so that everyone across Plymstock can enjoy a higher standard of living.
Currently I am studying International Relations at Plymouth University and enjoy being active in a wide variety of local groups and charities across the city. Our current Tory Councillors have consistently let us down on issues such as parking, planning, bin collections and congestion.
I want to be part of a fresh start for Plymstock Radford.
