Labour calls for action on Plymouth Airport after Heathrow decision

The Government has announced that it favours a third runway at Heathrow. Responding to the announcement Plymouth Labour has called for action to re-open Plymouth Airport.

Cllr Tudor Evans said:

"Last month I wrote to the Transport Secretary demanding the government publishes the delayed report into re-opening Plymouth Airport. I have heard nothing back. Now that Ministers have finally decided on Heathrow for a new runway it is time they helped Plymouth re-open our airport."

Luke Pollard, Labour's Candidate for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport at the last General Election, who used to work in aviation said:

"In a post-Brexit world it is even more important that Plymouth's transport connections are upgraded. We need proper air links between Plymouth and Heathrow and that can only happen if our airport re-opens. The Tories are running out of excuses why they haven't published their airport report. It's time they got on with it."
